World’s Week Grade 1 practice schedules

For the seventh straight year pipes|drums is pleased to provide readers with a guide to the schedules and locations of practices of Grade 1 bands competing for the World Pipe Band Championship, this year on August 16th in Glasgow.
 
All bands are listed, including those that have not yet responded with details. Their information will be added if or as it is provided, so please keep checking back over the days leading up to the World’s.
 
This year we have included Google Maps links to help you find exact locations.
 
Readers are advised that schedules may change, and that they should double-check before making travel plans. Bands are listed in alphabetical order.

When: 9:30 am and 2 pm, Tues-Thurs.
Note: “Everyone welcome.” Band competing August 9th at North Berwick, and August 10th at Perth. Aug. 15th practice at Glasgow Green at 9 am.
When: 11 am and 3 pm from Aug. 11 on.
Note: The band will be playing at George Square Aug 14 at 11 am, and will hold a CD launch at the Piping Live! Street Café at 1 pm that day. Also competing at the Ulster Championships Aug. 9. All are welcome!

Note: “Visitors are welcome.” Copies of the band’s new CD and DVD will be available for sale at practices.
Fife Constabulary
When: 7.30 to 9.30 pm., Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights
Note: The band will be in concert at the Renfrew Ferry ,Glasgow, on Monday.
The band will be practicing all week for the concert on Wednesday.    Sunday, Monday and Tuesday practice in Glasgow. Visits by invitation only.
Thursday night: open practice in Shotts band hall at 7:45 pm – all welcome.
Friday afternoon: open practice at the Todd Bar, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, 4 pm
When: 10 am each day, except Wednesday

Note: “No security clearance required, but pints with the band guys in the Todd following the p.m. practice highly recommended.”
