Annan out strong at Dunbar

Published: May 14, 2018

Dunbar, Scotland – May 12, 2018 – The Royal Burgh of Annan last year got a promotion to Grade 3A after winning the RSPBA Champion of Champions title in Grade 3B, and the band started its 2018 season by beating certified Grade 2 bands and winning the piping in Grade 2 at the first RSPBA competition of the year. Bands were permitting to compete up one grade (Juvenile bands competing in Grade 2, if they wished). Juvenile band George Heriot’s School made a significant achievement, too, in winning the Grade 2 competition. The Grade 1 contest featured only Grade 2 entrants. The competition marked the debut of newly appointed RSPBA judge Maurice Rhodes, longtime piper with Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia.
