Campbell Wilson: first ever NZ Young Piper of the Year

Nelson, New Zealand – October 6, 2018 – Campbell Wilson of Christchurch became the first ever NZ Young Piper of the Year, receiving NZ$1,000, at the inaugural New Zealand Young Piper of the Year Solo Piping Competition. There were two sections to decide the title: a competition of familiar graded piobaireachd and light music events during the day, and a concert style contest in the evening for those in the Under-21 MSR and Hornpipe & Jig events.

The NZ Young Piper of the Year award was determined by the Piobaireachd (submit two) and the MSR (submit two).

Following contestants’ MSR, they played a Hornpipe & Jig that was streamed live on Facebook.
