Complete Day 1 results: Alan Bevan wins Inverness Gold Medal
Inverness, Scotland – September 4, 2008 –
The Highland Society of London’s Gold Medal for Piobaireachd at the Northern Meeting was won by Alan Bevan of Surrey, British Columbia, today, playing “Clan MacNab’s Salute.” Bevan was last to play in the event. Niall Stewart, who had won the Argyllshire Gathering
Gold Medal the previous week and who also was one of the last to play, was fourth.
The Silver Medal was won by Colin Lee, also of Surrey, British Columbia.

In the Former Winners MSR, Angus MacColl of Benderloch, Scotland, was the winner announced at nearly 12:30 am. It was the second Silver Star
for MacColl, who previously won the prize in 2005. Tom Speirs had been scheduled to judge, but withdrew because of illness, so Iain MacLellan took his place.
