Dunedin wins Virginia International Tattoo American Championship with judging line of 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 x 2

Norfolk, Virginia – April 28, 2018 – The third annual Virginia International Tattoo American Pipe Band Championship was held again at Scope Plaza, with four Grade 2 bands making up the top-grade competition comprising an MSR and a Medley event. City of Dunedin from Florida took the overall Grade 2 prize with 16 firsts from the eight judges in each event.

St. Thomas Episcopal School of Houston was the overall winner in Grade 3, placing first in both the Medley and MSR. The contest was part of the Virginia International Tattoo, held over several nights in the 18,000-seat Scope Arena. Guest pipe bands also performed at the tattoo. Grade 2 New Ross & District travelled from Ireland to compete.

The contest is not sanctioned by an association, so is able to create its own rules as it desires.

The Grade 2 MacMillan Pipe Band of Maryland won the Open Drum Fanfare competition.
