pipes|drums magazine readership soars

The month of August so far has resulted in record numbers for pipes|drums, with unique visits and page-views almost doubling previous highs.

With still a week left in the month, more than 22,000 “uniques” – visits to the online magazine from a reader with a computer using a distinct Internet protocol (IP) address – have been recorded.

On August 16th, the day of the World Pipe Band Championships, more than 172,000 page-views were recorded, smashing the previous record set on August 4th, the Monday following the North American Championships.

Since the launch of its redesign in early-June, pipes|drums page-views have consistently surpassed 80,000 every day.

“We continue to be amazed by the continuing increased popularity of the online magazine,” said Andrew Berthoff, pipes|drums editor. “We’re most happy for our sponsors, because it means they’re receiving a massive return on their marketing investment in terms of visibility and, we hope, readers clicking on their ads.”

From June 11, 2008, when the redeveloped pipes|drums was unveiled, to August 19, 2008, a total of 4,041,705 page-views have been recorded.

The totals do not include page-views for and visits to the popular Blogpipe feature.

Supported entirely by subscriptions and advertising sponsors, pipes|drums is the world’s only independent, not-for-profit magazine for pipers and drummers.
