Russell the overall winner at Roseneath

Roseneath, Scotland – July 20, 2008 – A sunny day, but with a strong, cold wind were the conditions at Roseneath Games, where about 50 total competitors came out for the solo piping events, which included a piobaireachd contest for those graded B or C by the Competing Pipers Association. Alan Russell of Kelty, Scotland, was the overall winner.

The event was the final after two heats that were judged by Roddy MacLeod and Angus MacLellan. The final, comprising the top four from each heat, was judged by both.

Both light music events were run in two heats, with judges Walter Cowan and Barry Donaldson.  The finals, each comprising the top four from each heat, were judged by both.

  1. Sorry to be such a pedant, but it’s Rosneath; I used to stand on the hill and watch the nuclear submarines try to sneak into the Gareloch, apparently under the impression they couldn’t be seen, hiding fifteen feet under the surface.
