Smith takes overall at Lonach

Lonach, Scotland – August 24, 2013 – John-Angus Smith of London was the overall winner at the annual Lonach Gathering, where 15 pipers competed in the senior events in mostly warm with occasional cold showers. There was the usual strong attendance by non-Scottish contestants, many of whom are waiting out the two weeks between the Argyllshire Gathering and Northern Meeting. The contest holds a special event that commemorates the compositions of the famous local piper, William Grant. Smith was presented with the Connolly Trophy by TV star Pamela Stephenson.
