St. Mary’s rules Jakarta Highland Games

Jakarta – May 27, 2012 –The Jakarta Highland Games were held at Karawci, West Jakarta, on a typically humid day in the Indonesian capital. The 2012 gathering was one of the biggest in the 33-year history of the event. Bands from Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Australia were represented.  There were 36 solo piping entries and 15 quintet entries. The games are part of a two-day Highland festival that commenced with a “Scotland in Concert” on Saturday night at the Oriental Mandarin Hotel in central Jakarta. The contest is split into two grades: Southeast Asian and Open for both solos and quintet band competitions. Each quintet comprises three pipers, a snare and a bass, and each quintet plays twice.
