Strathmore Games cut short by lightning and rain
Strathmore, Scotland – June 14, 2009 – Solo piping prizes were still awarded despite the Strathmore Highland Games being cut short when rain, lightning, thunder and hail came down around 3 pm, with only half of the entrants having competed. The winner of the Piobaireachd event, Tracey Williams, got the worst of the weather mid-performance, and received a resounding cheer from fellow competitors, huddled under a tent as she played in shirt-sleeves.

Brilliant result Tracey, in that weather too. Well done you!!
Lot of fed up pipers as organisers would not allow us to complete events in an empty tent once games abandoned. All credit to Tracey though, that took guts!
