Video: Shotts celebrates victory
pipes|drums Magazine is pleased to bring you the moment when Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band was announced 2015 World Champions, along with the band’s march-off and a few quick interviews with Pipe-Major Ryan Canning, Leading-Drummer Jim Kilpatrick and Pipe-Sergeant Glenn Brown.
It was the first time in more than 50 years that a band has won the World Championship without previously winning another major championship under its current leadership.
The victory for the Scottish group was the first time in 10 years that a pipe band from Scotland has won the top prize. The last Scottish band to do it? The same Shotts & Dykehead in 2005, then under Pipe-Major Robert Mathieson.
It was the sixteenth time in the band’s long history that it won the World Championship.
Any one notice P/M Ross Walker looking after the shott’s guys pipes? That’s class.
