The 2016 Antigonish Highland Games to take place the week of July 3 to July 10, 2016.

Please Note: The main weekend for the Highland Games will be July 8, 9 & 10, 2016 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) featuring competitions in Piping, Drumming, Pipe Bands, Highland Dancing, Ancient Scottish Heavy Events and Track and Field along with Concerts, Ceilidhs, Clan Gatherings and much more.

The Antigonish Highland Games has built a worldwide reputation based on authenticity, attention to detail, and hospitality. The 153rd Games will be no exception. The week long schedule will be jam packed with new and enhanced competitions featuring athletes, pipers, drummers, and highland dancers from across the country and around the world. There will also be the blend of Scottish flavoured ceilidhs, clan activities, and concerts.

Listed as one of New Brunswick's ‘Top Festivals’ and one of the American Bus Association's 100 Best Events in North America for 2011, 2012 and 2013, the New Brunswick Highland Games Festival is one of the largest events of its kind in Atlantic Canada and is certainly a favourite amongst competitors and visitors alike. The event has twice been named an Attractions Canada Award Winner, including Best Provincial Sporting Event. Each year, nearly 100 volunteers and 7,000 visitors come to Government House for this pageant of music, colour and Scottish culture.

Popular with visitors of all ages, the Embro Highland Games offers a wide variety of entertainment with admission pricing geared to families.

In addition to watching our various piping, athletic and dancing competitions, you can inspect vintage cars, watch dogs at work, investigate Scottish clans, shop at our vendor booths, or enjoy a meal and licensed refreshments. If you want to become more actively involved, try your hand at log sawing or maybe the farmer’s walk. Youngsters have their own just-for-fun competition.

We host more than 5,000 spectators and competitors, but the grounds never seem overcrowded, and free parking is always available.

Whether you are a spectator or serious competitor, you are always welcome.

Join us for a full slate of events comprising the Highland Games – pancake breakfast, highland dancing, piping and drumming, heavy sports, tug of war, sheep dogs, clan tents, Celtic vendors, Scotch tasting, traditional food and beverages, beer garden, massed bands and more.
New this year – food trucks, kids tent and Scotch tasting!

 

The individual Piping and Drumming competition runs during the morning at various judging stations throughout the park.

Early afternoon brings the Drum Major contest, followed by the Pipe Band Competitions.

The finale of the day is the Massed Bands of the Canmore Highland Games.

We would love to have you join us this year and look forward to a great competition on Saturday, September 6,  2015 and reuniting with you all.

Buffalo Bagpipe Band Club - Snare Drum Study Outreach

Announcing the creation of a snare drum study outreach group for all Buffalo and surrounding area Pipe Band Snare Drummers. The group is an offshoot of the Buffalo Bagpipe Band Club.  Starting on January 9th, 2016. The material that will be covered will be created to fulfill the needs of the participating group members.  For example, the Massed Band settings may be one of the subjects.  Study material will be supported by pdf and video files posted on the internet for later reference. There is no fee to participate but voluntary donations may be made to benefit the Buffalo Bagpipe Band Club.

Lindsay.  This seminar will focus on selected tunes from the new Piobaireachd Society Book 16 as well as other requested tunes (as time permits).  The seminar material will be geared for experienced pipers who have achieved the Grade 3 solo level or above.
