The Pipes and Drums of Lindsay are hosting their annual Open House for those who are interested in joining or are just fans and would like to come out and have a listen. Sixteen young talented pipers' will compete for the Falkirk Tryst Prize Pipe and Banner. Former Tryst competitors will also compete in the MacMurchie Contest. Three former Tryst winners' and this year's Tryst winner will compete for Champion Falkirk Tryst piper. The event will be held inside St Modan�s Parish Church � Falkirk, there will also be a procession of the competitors along Falkirk�s High Street which will be led by the winning piper.

What makes the New Brunswick Highland Games Festival so special is that the event has two equally important halves - the Highland Games (piping and drumming, highland dancing and traditional athletics) and the Scottish Festival (entertainment, clans and workshops) Although provincial in scope, the event draws hundreds of competitors and performers from across Atlantic Canada, Ontario and the Eastern seaboard. Listed as one of New Brunswick's "Top Festivals", the New Brunswick Highland Games Festival is one of the largest events of its kind in Atlantic Canada and is certainly a favourite amongst competitors and visitors alike. The event has twice been named an Attractions Canada Award Winner, including Best Provincial Sporting Event. Each year, nearly 100 volunteers and 8,000 visitors come to Government House for this pageant of music, colour and Scottish culture.

34th annual Jakarta Highland Gathering. The Jakarta Highland Gathering is an annual event which combines a traditional Scottish Highland Games with a Fun Family Festival. There's a dedicated Kid's Area, Food Festival with over twenty restaurants (and all day live music), a dance stage featuring everything from Highland dancing to salsa and a host of sporting competitions.

The Rob Roy Pipe Band is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2013! We are going to be holding a reunion in conjunction with the Kingston Scottish Festival (http://www.kingstonscottishfestival.com/) on Saturday May 25 at Rideau Acres Campground in Kingston and we want any and all former members to be a part of it! During the afternoon of the Kingston Scottish festival there will be a special tent for Rob Roy members with memorabilia and photos where alumni can gather and share memories. As part of massed bands at the KSF we will be asking any alumni in the audience and on the field competing to come forward to play (likely Amazing Grace or Scotland the Brave). After the KSF has ended for the day, we will be moving indoors to the hall at Rideau Acres for an informal gathering of members and alumni. The 2013 Atlantic Canada Piobaireachd Challenge and Workshop with Jack Lee. The Piobaireachd Challenge will take place on April 27th and the workshop on April 28th. The entry deadline to compete is April 19th. Tunes submitted must be from the 2013 set tune list for all grades. Everyone is welcome at the workshop regardless of skill level. The workshop is open to everyone and not just competitors. The workshop will take place from 10am-3pm (10-12: the piobaireachd portion of it and 1-3: light music, reed manipulation and setting up your bagpipe). The Piobaireachd Challenge will start at 9am.
