78th Frasers Reportedly Not Attending Fort Erie

The 78th Fraser Highland Pipe Band will reportedly not attend the Fort Erie Highland Games despite the Pipers & Pipe Band Association of Ontario (PPBSO) approving the band’s request to adjust the Grade 1 medley competition requirement from two to one.

Fort Erie is the only major competition impacted by the one-medley rule amendment. The Fergus Highland Games calls for a medley in Grade 1, however only the Toronto Police is expected to attend the event, with the 78th Frasers and Peel Police travelling to the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow. Toronto Police depart for Scotland later in the week.

Specific reasons for the 78th Frasers apparent withdrawal from Fort Erie are not yet known.

Fort Erie still promises to be a very strong Grade 1 event, with City of Washington and the 78th Highlanders (Halifax) travelling to the contest to compete against Ontario’s Peel Regional Police and Toronto Police bands.
