Andrew Scullion Joins Shotts and Dykehead
Andrew Scullion has joined the drum section of the Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band.
Scullion comes to Shotts as a corps player under Lead Drummer Jim Kilpatrick. In December 2002, Scullion resigned Field Marshal Montgomery for “personal reasons” after leading that band’s drum section for four years, taking the corps as high as second place at the World Pipe Band Championships.
“Both Andrew and I are delighted to be teaming up to play with each other in the same corps,” said Kilpatrick, winner of the World Solo Drumming Championship a record 13 times.
Like Kilpatrick, Scullion is a previous winner of the World Solo title. The Shotts and Field Marshal drum sections have been the most consistent Grade 1 corps on the RSPBA circuit for several years.
One insider, who asked to remain anonymous, stated, “Shotts lost Barry Wilson to ScottishPower, but the addition of Scullion perhaps more than makes up for that. Shotts could well be unstoppable in drumming in 2003.”
