Barry Ewen Attends First Band Practice Since Illness

Barry Ewen, Pipe-Major of the Grade 2 Windsor Police Pipe Band, attended his first band practice on July 27 since suffering a stroke on June 7.

According Pipe-Sergeant James Stewart, “Barry was extremely happy to be back on familiar ground and is closer to returning to the pipe band scene every day.”

Stewart has led the band while Ewen recovers, and has maintained the group’s standard, having taken second at the Canadian Championships in June and third at the Chatham Highland games in July.

Windsor Police will compete at the North American Championships at Maxville, Ontario, and the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow August 16.
