Boghall & Bathgate Belfast Concert to Feature New Sound, Music

The Boghall & Bathgate Pipe Band of Bathgate, Scotland, has revealed that its May 5 concert in Belfast, Northern Ireland, will feature a number of firsts for the band.

The concert will feature “A Call To The Gathering,” a new suite composed by the well-known piper Don Bradford, which Pipe Major Ross Walker describes as “quite a departure from the material usually performed by Boghall.”

The concert will also mark the Boghall’s first performance using blackwood chanters since the band changed its Sinclairs for Warnocks in 1990. The chanters are a new design from R.T. Shepherd & Son, and, Walker promises, will produce a new sound.

Iain McLeod contends that Boghall is “the best band never to win a World Championship,” adding that the band may have been overlooked for the overall prize at last year’s event.

Details for obtaining tickets to the event are available at the band’s Web site at www.boghall.com.
