Bratach Gorm Flies From McCallum’s Bass

London, England – November 2, 2002 – The prestigious Bratach Gorm (Blue Banner) was won by Willie McCallum of Bearsden, Scotland, here today in the first big event of the new piping year. McCallum thus will receive an invitation to the 2003 Glenfiddich Championship next October.

Roddy MacLeod of Cumbernauld, Scotland, continued his resurgence as a regular first prize winner by winning the Open Piobaireachd. Bruce Gandy, Halifax, Nova Scotia, finished second in both events.

To play in the Bratach Gorm a piper must have won a Highland Society Gold Medal, the Open Piobaireachd at London, or the Dunvegan Medal at Skye.
