Bridge of Allan Games Cancelled

The Bridge of Allan Highland Games have been cancelled due to a waterlogged field.

The event is seen as the big precursor to the World Pipe Band Championships on August 10, and this year’s entry had reportedly been over 12 Grade 1 bands, including ScottishPower, the Strathclyde Police, and Canada’s 78th Fraser Highlanders.

The 78th Frasers had decided to forego the North American Championships at Maxville, Ontario, in favour of going to Bridge of Allan as a strategic set-up to the World Championships. The band is scheduled to depart Toronto for Scotland on Thursday evening.
