Cairns wins Bratach Gorm

London – November 6, 2004 – John Cairns of London, Ontario, won the Bratach Gorm at London, England, in the annual Piping Society of London Competitions at the elegant Glaziers Hall on the banks of the River Thames.

With his win, Cairns gains the second qualifying spot for the Glenfiddich Championships in November 2005. He played “Lament for MacLeod of Colbecks.”

Iain Speirs gained the “London Championship” for overall results through the most senior competitions.

It was observed that, with the exception of only two events, the winner of the contest was one of the final three competitors to play.
