College of Piping holding major fundraiser

Prince Edward Island’s College of Piping is in the midst of one of probably the biggest fundraising campaigns in the history of piping and drumming as it plans to give away, among other prizes, a new Pontiac Solstice convertible.

In addition to the fiery red Solstice, which carries a manufacturer’s suggested price of nearly $30,000, the not-for-profit organization will be giving away 30 other prizes, ranging from mini-Atlantic Canada vacations to golf outings to restaurant and hotel and dinner packages.

The College embarked on its first major funding drive since the untimely passing of Director Scott MacAulay in September at age 52 after a lengthy battle with cancer. The organization is still in the process of searching for a new Director, but College representatives report that teaching programs are “continuing successfully.”

The College of Piping recently was able to extend the draw date of the fundraiser to November 22, 2008.

Tickets are priced at $100 each and a maximum of 1,000 will be sold. All proceeds in support of The College of Piping educational programs.

Tickets and more details are available online, by phone at  (902) 436-5377 or toll free 1-877-BAG-PIPE, or by e-mail.
