Competing Pipers Association AGM October 15

The Scottish-based Competing Pipers Association has scheduled its annual general meeting for Sunday, 15 October 2000 at 1:00 PM at the Salutation Hotel in Perth, Scotland.

As well as the normal reports from various executives of the organization, the AGM will address the set tunes for the various competitions at the Argyllshire Gathering at Oban, Scotland, and the Northern Meeting at Inverness, Scotland.

As with 2000, there has been a certain amount of discussion with competitors in the Gold and Silver medal competitions that the 2001 tune submission requirement is again six piobaireachds. The 2000 requirement for the Senior competitions – the Clasp at Inverness and the Senior Piobaireachd at Oban – was reduced from six to four tunes after direct input from competitors in those events.

Also on the agenda is a discussion on tuning times and lights at the major competitions. Currently, competitors are limited to four minutes on-stage tuning time in the piobaireachd events and three minutes in the light music contests.

The CPA currently boasts over 250 international members, most of whom have a direct interest in competing at the major gatherings at Oban and Inverness.
