David Brown Sr. Dies

David Brown Sr., lead drummer with the Bucksburn & District Pipe Band of Aberdeen, Scotland, from 1967 to ’73, died after an illness on April 30.

Known as a keen teacher and contributor, Brown was very active with the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association and served on its judging panel for many years. He was also a member of the RSPBA’s Millennium Group in his latter years, contributing to that committee’s important recommendations that are now in the process of being implemented.

“I only knew David for a year, but he was a very committed individual who loved helping people develop their skills,” said Richard Mackay of England. “In the short time I knew him, he gained my respect and friendship.”

On behalf of the piping and drumming world, we extend our condolences to David Brown’s family and his many friends.
