David Urquhart Travel Wins Bridge of Allan

Bridge of Allan, Scotland – August 5, 2001 – The David Urquhart Travel (DUT) Pipe Band won the last contest before the World Pipe Band Championships, besting the Strathclyde Police, a band that has pre-qualified for the World’s final. DUT is playing in the qualifying round at the World’s.

Bridge of Allan is sometimes considered a foreshadowing for the World Championships, but in recent years has not enjoyed a large entry in Grade 1, particularly by contending bands.

Grade 2 was won by Maple Ridge of British Columbia, with the Grade 3 Robert-Malcolm Memorial Pipe Band, also of British Columbia, playing up to capture second prize.

1st David Urquhart Travel
2nd Strathclyde Police
3rd Lothian & Borders Police
4th Queensland Police
