Dowco Triumph Street signs deal with Gannaway

The Grade 1 Dowco Triumph Street Pipe Band of Vancouver has come to terms on a sponsorship agreement with D&M Gannaway Ltd. of New Zealand in which the band will play and endorse the company’s pipe bags.

Terms of the partnership were not disclosed, but the band did not indicate anything beyond the pipe section using Gannaway pipe bags and allowing the company to use Dowco Triumph Street’s name in promotional material.

“This is a fantastic product that I have personally played for several years,” Dowco Triumph Street Pipe-Major David Hilder said. “All my pipers are on these bags and we have had great success with them over the years, including winning the 2006 Grade 2 World Championship and the 2007 Grade 2 North American Championships.”

Hilder cited the versatility of Gannaway pipe bags as “second-to-none,” pointing out that the band has already used them in extreme weather conditions with no problems.

Dowco Triumph Street is the latest band to negotiate an endorsement deal with a manufacturer. The most common deals with Grade 1 bands involve chanter- and drum-makers.
