Dysart Leadership Returns To Band

The leadership story of the Dysart & Dundonald Pipe Band has taken another about face, with Pipe-Major Brian Lamond and Lead Drummer Paul Turner agreeing to return to the band.

Sources within Dysart & Dundonald, who spoke on condition of anonymity, have confirmed that Lamond and Turner came to a resolution at a special band meeting on September 13 that saves the band – which won World Championships in 1977 and ’78 – from potential demise.

Sources also communicated that the band is “back together without the influence of Mr. R.T. Shepherd.”

Robert Shepherd MBE was the Pipe-Major of Dysart & Dundonald during the band’s glory years, leading the group to its most successful campaigns. Shepherd was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to piping.

Dysart & Dundonald in 2002 enjoyed its most successful season in decades, with the band placing in three of the five RSPBA championships.
