First CLASP contest prize announced

The winner of the first competition in August for Scotland’s recently announced Competition League For Amateur Solo Pipers (CLASP) will received airfare to New York, accommodation and an invitation to compete in the Grade 1 amateur competitions at the Metro Cup in February 2006.

The contest takes place August 10-12 at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow and is open to amateur pipers 18-years-old and older.

“We are delighted to offer this fantastic prize for the winner of the Grade 1 title and we will wish the winner all the best in New York,” says Roddy MacLeod, director of the Piping Live! International Festival of Piping, which will help to put on the first CLASP contest.
