Forrest, Carlisle big winners at Duncan Johnstone Memorial

Glasgow – March 20, 2004 – Decker Forrest of Glasgow and Andrew Carlisle of Northern Ireland came up as the big winners of the annual Duncan Johnstone Memorial Solo Piping competition held at The National Piping Centre. The event is reserved for pipers graded B or C by the Competing Pipers Association.

The event comprises two preliminary heats for the Piobaireachd competition. Each section has 20 competitors. Two from each heat are chosen to play in the final.

2nd Darach Urquhart, Glasgow, “Lament for Donald of Laggan”
3rd Andrew Hall, Essex, England, “Catherine’s Lament”
4th Andrew Carlisle, Co. Down, “Lament for Captain MacDougall”

In addition, prizes 3rd to 6th were awarded for each preliminary heat. These were:
