Galbraith new L-D for Lomond & Clyde

The Grade 2 Lomond & Clyde Pipe Band of Glasgow has changed leading-drummers, with Leslie Galbraith taking over the position from Derek Craig.

Galbraith had been L-D for the Grade 2 Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Pipe Band in 2007, and before that a snare drummer with the Strathclyde Police and David Urquhart Travel. Craig had been L-D of Lomond & Clyde since 2004, but decided to leave the band in favour of playing with the Grade 1 ScottishPower Pipe Band.

According to a Lomond & Clyde representative, Galbraith intends to form a drum section from Strathclyde Fire & Rescue players and drummers left at his new band.

Lomond & Clyde is one of Scotland’s success stories, having reached Grade 2 from Grade 4A in just five years. Among other things in 2007, the band achieved a second in piping at the Scottish Championships, two sixths in the Grade 2 Final at the World Pipe Band Championships, and a third-placing in drumming at the Cowal Championships.
