Greenlees enjoys big day at Duncan Johnstone Memorial

Glasgow – February 23, 2002 – Jonathan Greenlees of Northern Ireland emerged as the big winner of the annual Duncan Johnstone Memorial Competition for pipers graded B & C by the Competing Pipers Association in events held at the National Piping Centre.

Greenlees, a Field Marshal Montgomery member, won both the piobaireachd and MSR events and was third in the jig contest.

A strong entry of 32 turned the event into one of the premier lower-grade solo contests of the year, rivalled only by the Argyllshire Gathering and the Northern Meeting.

A total of 29 pipers competed between two heats, with two from each heat playing in a final event. The judges were John MacDougall, Roddy MacLeod, William Morrison and Tom Spiers.
