Grey Takes Toronto Pro K-O
Toronto – March 9, 2002 – Michael Grey, Dundas, Ontario, won his second consecutive Pipers & Pipe Band Society of Ontario Toronto Branch Professional Invitational Knockout Competition today at the Officers’ Mess of the Fort York Armoury in the west end of Toronto.
Grey won the $1000 first prize against a formidable field of ten other pipers, receiving a bye to the second round because of his win in 2001, since only eleven players total entered. All three rounds of the contest were held on the same day.
Round One (Hornpipe & Jig)
Round Two (MSR)
The final round 5-7 minute own-choice medley event comprised Grey, Cairns and Clansey. Michael Grey was first, Colin Clansey second, and John Cairns third.
All events were judged by Bob Worrall and Tom Anderson.
