Grey Wins PPBSO Branch Event

Michael Grey of Dundas, Ontario, won the first professional piping contest of the 2001 Ontario year at the Niagara/Hamilton branch of the Pipers & Pipe Band Society of Ontario’s annual march, strathspey & reel event against a strong field of competitors.

Second prize went to Robert Crabtree of Toronto, Ontario, and third was awarded to Ian K. MacDonald of Whitby, Ontario.

The own-choice MSR event was judged by Jim McGillivray, Aurora, Ontario, who also entertained post-contest on Scottish smallpipes and various other instruments.

Other competitors were Peter Aumonier, Andrew Berthoff, Jason Briscoe, Andrew Douglas, Hector MacDonald, and John Mackenzie.

The event was well-attended, despite severe weather warnings for the area.
