Hamilton to publish music collection

Chris Hamilton, the Maryland-based piper, will bring out his first collection of compositions, arrangements and exercises early this year.

According to Hamilton, Volume One of “The Tone Czar Collection” will feature from an array of composers, including Neil Dickie, Ian Lyons, Jimmy Shand, and Hamilton himself.

“[The collection has] more than 100 tunes, plus harmony for some tunes and finger exercises,” says Hamilton. “There are many new compositions, some very well known newer compositions, some old tunes published for the first time or in a particular arrangement for the first time, and some non-pipe tunes adapted for the pipes.”

Hamilton also revealed that he has resigned from the City of Washington Pipe Band of Washington, DC, to become Pipe-Major of the MacMillan Pipe Band, a Grade 3 band also based in Washington area. He will also continue his roles as Director and Instructor of the Guilford & Glencoe District Juvenile Pipe Band in Baltimore.

Hamilton stressed that he left City of Washington on very good terms and considers himself “an associate member.”
