Houlihan, McCready Win at CPA Event

Glasgow, Scotland – February 24, 2001 – The Competing Pipers Association’s annual competition for pipers grade “B” and “C” was held in conjunction with the Piping Centre in Glasgow, and 41 pipers took part in the event.

Margaret Houlihan of Ireland and Chris Armstrong of Bathgate, Scotland, did well in the piobaireachd events, and Gordon McCready won the March, Strathspey & Reel contest.

The Piobaireachd event was split into two, with a short leet to decide the final prizes. In the jig competition, pipers submitted one jig of their own choice and one jig from Duncan Johnstone’s collection of music. Neil Johnstone, son of Duncan Johnstone, presented the Duncan Johnstone Trophy to the winner.
