Ian Duncan Joins ScottishPower

Ian Duncan, former Pipe-Major of the Vale of Atholl Pipe Band, has joined the ScottishPower Pipe Band after a year without competitive playing.

Duncan left the Vale in November 2000 after 36 years with the band, 26 as Pipe-Major. Under Duncan, the Vale won two major championships in Grade 1, and finished as high as third in the World Pipe Band Championships.

The addition of Duncan to the ScottishPower ranks is apparently one of several to come for the band, which has traditionally attracted top piping talent, going back to its evolutionary roots as the Power of Scotland and British Caledonian Airways bands.

When asked what the reason was for joining ScottishPower, Duncan cited two: 1) he missed playing, and 2) Roddy MacLeod, Pipe-Major of ScottishPower.
