James P. Troy storms into Silver Cap competition

The innovative nature of the Silver Cap Invitational Solo Piping Competition will see the event in a bigger and better venue at the Lord Todd Bar at the University of Strathclyde, and the event has further expanded by striking a relationship with the Midwest Highland Arts Fund’s annual Winter Storm competition.

Starting this year, the overall Winter Storm light music winner will receive event an automatic invitation to compete at the Silver Cap, so James P. Troy will join the renowned company of Bruce Gandy,  Jack Lee, Stuart Liddell, Angus MacColl,  Willie McCallum and Gordon Walker at the August 10th event.

Silver Cap organizer Richard King said that the new relationship is “an effort to increase participation at Winter Storm.”

In return, Winter Storm will cover the cost of compensation for an additional competitor at the Silver Cap, which, in addition to individual event prizes, provides a monetary award . . .
