James P. Troy storms into Silver Cap competition

. . . for every contestant, regardless of where he finishes overall.

King said that in 2011 the two events will reciprocate with mutual promotion of each other’s competition.

One of the creative aspects of the Silver Cap is the requirement that competitors must submit and perform an original unpublished composition as part of their light music performance, with the tunes eventually going into a printed collection of music. The judge for this year’s contest, Iain MacLellan, will be shielded from competitors from behind a screen.

Tickets for the competition are priced at £10 each and are available online directly from the organizers..

According to co-organizers Richard King and Stephen Foley of Los Angeles, the competition was inspired by a silver hubcap found on the way to a Highland games, eventually resulting in the creation of the Silver Cap.
