Jock MacKenzie, 1945 – 2007
Jock MacKenzie, bass drummer with the Grade 1 Manawatu Scottish Pipe Band of Palmserston North, New Zealand, died suddenly of a suspected heart attack on March 3, aged 61. He was the father of the Stuart MacKenzie, pipe-major and well known solo piper, and the band’s lead-drummer, Frazer MacKenzie.
Manawatu had been preparing for the New Zealand Pipe Band Championships in Dunedin, New Zealand, on March 10, and, according to a spokesperson for the band, is undecided whether it will compete for its seventh title.
The funeral will be held on March 7 at All Saints Church in Palmerston North.
Our sympathies go to Jock MacKenzie’s family and friends at this sad time.
Brutal news. Jock was a great guy and first class bass drummer. Thoughts go to his family. A sad time.
