Keddy Leaving Toronto Police for Halifax
The Toronto Police Pipe Band is searching for its third lead drummer in as many years, as Jeremy Keddy has resigned the post to return to his native Halifax to pursue other opportunities.
Keddy, 23 will play in, but not lead, the 78th Highlanders (Halifax) drum section. The band is the 2003 Canadian and North American pipe band champion.
Originally from Halifax, Keddy moved to Toronto in 1997 to lead the Peel Regional Police Pipe Band under then Pipe-Major Michael Grey. He has also played with the 78th Fraser Highlanders, and during his five years on the Ontario scene won two North American Champion drum section titles.
Keddy stresses that he leaves the Toronto Police on amicable terms, and his decision was more career-based than anything else. Iain Madeiros will reportedly be lead drummer with Toronto Police while the band decides on potential candidates.
