MacColl Wins Todd Bar Recital Contest

Angus MacColl of Oban, Scotland, won the first Lord Todd Bar “recital contest” at Strathclyde University, against three of the world’s fastest-handed pipers on Thursday, August 14.

MacColl competed against Chris Armstrong, of Bathgate, Scotland; Bruce Gandy, Halifax, Nova Scotia; and Stuart Liddell, Inveraray, Scotland. The competition called for each piper to perform a 25 to 30 minute recital. There were no other requirements except for having to include March, Strathspey & Reel and the ground of a piobaireachd.
