MacKenzie takes Pipe Idol final

Glasgow – August 14, 2009 – James MacKenzie of the Isle of Lewis, Scotland, was named 2009 Pipe Idol Champion in a four-piper final competition after four separate qualifying rounds.
MacKenzie had qualified only the day before, and his 15-minute performance, which included an MSR was chosen the best by the unnamed judges in the audience of the Street Café at the Piping Live! Glasgow Festival of International Piping.
MacKenzie played against Emmet Conway, Northern Ireland; Craig Muirhead, Stirling, Scotland; and David Wilton, Forfar, Scotland.
The final round attracted a large crowd even though there was heavy rain just outside of the venue.
