Malaysia Airlines Contest won by Wilkes

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia – July 10, 2004 – Casey Wilkes of New Zealand was the overall winner of the Malaysia Airlines Solo Piping Competition, and thus qualifies for the final of the MacAllan Trophy competition at the Lorient Interceltic Music Festival in France in August.

The Australian event comprised a Scottish MSR section, an Irish contest and a Breton section.

The top three prize winners receive Malaysian Airlines airfare to Paris and train travel to Lorient.

In May, John Cairsn, the overall winner of the William Livinsgtone Sr. Memorial Invitational in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, also qualified for the Lorient event.
