NAPB wants supporter to drive away in new Mercedes

The recently formed Grade 1 North American Pipe Band is joining the ranks of innovative pipe band marketers by conducting a raffle in which one lucky winner will drive away in a 2009 Mercedes Benz C300.

The band’s “Help us get to Scotland 2010” fundraiser is designed to help the band gather enough funds to travel to next year’s World Pipe Band Championships, a project that costs most non-UK bands anywhere from $40,000 to $75,000.
According to band member Joe Foley, each ticket will be priced at US$100, with a maximum of 1000 total tickets available. The draw for the car will be made only when all tickets have been sold.

Price of the 2009 Mercedes C300 starts at $41,200 in Canada, and further details about the car being raffled are not yet known.

Foley said that the band will post further information on its website, where visitors will be able to purchase tickets.
The fund-raising concept comes on the heels of 2008 World Champions Simon Fraser University auctioning an “experience trip” on eBay Canada, which went to a bidder from Calgary for $7,500. SFU subsequently negotiated an identical additional package with another buyer for the same amount, grossing $15,000 for the group.

  1. There is no such a thing as a purely NA vehicle. All car manufacturers are global. As a result, the automotive slowdown is a world wide problem. Also, are we to imply that all members of the NAPB are to be NA built?
