New Dumbarton & District PM: Donald MacPhee

The Dumbarton & District Pipe Band of Dumbarton, Scotland, has appointed Donald MacPhee of Alexandria, Scotland, as its new Pipe-Major.

MacPhee takes over from Gordon Lawrie, who succeeded Mark Bennett after the 1999 season, and since then the band has suffered personnel losses. Its last prize in a major championship was a sixth at Cowal in 2000.

MacPhee has played with the ScottishPower since 1997 and has established himself as a formidable solo competitor. At Inverness and Oban he has won both the A Grade March and Strathspey & Reel events. He is also a successful reed maker by profession.

Dumbarton & District hold practices in Renton, Dumbartonshire.
