Order of Play for Grade 1 World’s Qualifier Made

The order of play for the qualifying March, Strathspey & Reel competition to determine which six bands will join the nine bands already through to the final at the World Pipe Band Championships has been made by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association.

The draw was made following at the conclusion of the British Pipe Band Championships at Ayr, Scotland, on July 27. The World Championships will take place in Glasgow on August 10.

The order of play and times for the qualifying section are:

1st (08:50) Glasgow Skye Association
2nd (08:58) Lothian & Borders Police
3rd (09:06) Ravara (Northern Ireland)
4th (09:14) David Urquhart Travel
5th (09:22) MacNaughton’s Vale of Atholl
6th (09:30) Alberta Caledonia (Canada)
7th (09:38) Los Angeles Scots (USA)
8th (09:46) Toronto Police (Canada)
9th (09:54) City of Wellington (New Zealand)
10th (10:02) City of Washington (USA)
11th (10:10) Grampian Police
12th (10:18) Bucksburn & District
13th (10:26) Peel Regional Police (Canada)

The nine bands that have pre-qualified are the 78th Fraser Highlanders (Canada), Boghall & Bathgate, Dysart & Dundonald, Field Marshal Montgomery (Northern Ireland), ScottishPower, Shotts & Dykehead, Simon Fraser University (Canada), Strathclyde Police, and St. Laurence O’Toole (Eire).

Judges for the Grade 1 events at the World’s are:

Qualifying MSR: J. Campbell, Dixie Ingram (piping); Jim Baxter (drumming); Alistair Aitken (ensemble)

Final MSR: Trevor Dear, John Wilson (piping); Gordon Parkes (drumming); Joe Noble (ensemble)

Final Medley: Iain Mathieson, Denver Cardwell (piping); J. MacInnes (drumming); J. MacKenzie (ensemble)
