PPBSO Judges’ Seminar April 21

The Pipers & Pipe Band Society of Ontario (PPBSO) plans to hold its annual professional development seminar for judges on April 21 in Campbellville, Ontario. The full-day program is designed for all active judges on the PPBSO panel, as well as adjudicators from other nine organizations in the Alliance of North American Pipe Band Associations.

The seminar, managed and hosted by the PPBSO Music Board, will include sessions on ensemble judging; rule amendments new in 2007; mid-section tuning and arrangements; the consultative judging process, which the PPBSO introduced in 2005; and a special session entitled “The Language of the Score Sheet” conducted by Bob Worrall.

The seminar is held annually by the PPBSO, and has been attended by as many as 40 judges in recent years. To maintain their standing on the PPBSO’s panel of adjudicators, members are requested to attend at least one seminar every two years.

The seminar is open only to accredited ANAPBA judges, and is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at the Mohawk Inn in Campbellville, Ontario. Further details are available by e-mail from the PPBSO’s administrator, Sharon Duthart.
