Pipe bands, pipers and piping events nominated for 2008 Trad Music Awards

No fewer than seven piping and drumming events and artists have been nominated for this year’s Trad Music Awards, a people’s choice contest that highlights Scotland’s top folk and traditional musical acts and events from the past year.

Readers wishing to vote can cast their ballot at the Trad Music Awards website.

In the Scottish Pipe Band of the Year category, four bands have been nominated:
  • Bucksburn & District Novice Juvenile Pipe Band
  • Johnstone Pipe Band
  • ScottishPower Pipe Band
  • Spirit of Scotland Pipe Band

In the Event of the Year category, both the Gordon Duncan Memorial Concert and Piping Live! Festival made the short-list of nominees, and the Highland pipes-infused Breabach garnered a nomination in the Scottish Folk Band of the Year category.

The sixth annual Trad Music Awards will be held at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow December 5-6. The gala event is already sold-out.

Voting ends on November 21st.

  1. How dare they decide musical excellence this way! It must be by a select few judges with lots of biases but who know better because they have past a test!!! On the other hand I just voted 20 times for my faves and I’m still at it.
