Piping Live! adds Family Fun Day

Catering to younger pipers and drummers and families, the Piping Live! Glasgow International Piping Festival will hold a special Family Fun Day on Monday, August 6th, at the National Piping Centre, with “activities for the whole family.”

From 11 am until 4 pm that day families can take a tour of the Piping Museum to learn about the history of the pipes. At 2 pm the Robert Malcolm Memorial Juvenile Pipe Band, which won the Juvenile contest at the 2005 World Championships, will perform, and performances from some of Scotland’s best young piping will play at the Street Café outside of the Piping Centre.

More children’s activities are planned, including a “come and try” session for kids to have a go at pipes and drums. A face-painting area, bouncy castle, balloon animals, children’s entertainers and fun packs to take home are designed for kids, and the Centre’s Piper’s Tryst restaurant will carry a special children’s menu for the day.

Tickets are priced at £2.50 for a joint adult and child ticket, and 50p for each additional child.
