Piping Live! announces 10th birthday beer contest

The tenth anniversary edition of the Piping Live! Glasgow International Piping Festival will include a celebratory beer created especially for the event after the festival partnered with WEST Brewery in Glasgow to create Pipers’ Pilsner, a “light and hoppy beer, perfect to sit back and sip” during the event.

Piping Live! is taking Pipers’ Pilsner a step further by inviting fans of the festival to enter a writing competition, calling for a 150-words-maximum article titled, “Why I Love Piping Live!” and what makes it the “BEST” week of piping in the world. The winner will help make the beer as an assistant for the brewing team, and see the inner-workings of the brewery.  

Open to those 19 and older, the contest closes at 10 am (BST), July 8th, and the winner notified by July 11th. Submissions will be judged by a panel from Piping Live!, and entries should be sent by email, and should include Name, Date of Birth, Address, Email Address and Contact number.

The organizers said that “brewing includes a lot of heavy lifting, if you feel that you would not be able to carry out these tasks [you should] nominate someone to come on your behalf.” The winner also needs to be available from 8 am on July
18th and able to travel to Glasgow Green easily. “Travel will not be reimbursed.”  

Piping Live! runs from August 11-18.
