Piping Live! captures another Scottish Event Award

The 2010 edition of the Piping Live! Glasgow International Festival of Piping was named the Best Traditional Event of the year at the annual Scottish Event Awards gala in Edinburgh on September 15th.

Piping Live! bested several other contenders in the category, including the Heb Celt festival and the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival. Among the performers at last year’s Piping Live! were acts like Capercaillie, the Treacherous Orchestra, more than a dozen pipe bands and numerous solo piping and artistic events from a total of 10 piping countries.

The awards ceremony was held at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange.

Piping Live! continues to expand, and the 2011 festival included more artists and performances than ever throughout the week of August 7th to 14th.

The Scottish Event Awards is a peer-reviewed competition on nominated events from the calendar year. Other winners from 2010 include the Glasgow Film Festival, Celtic Connections and the Edinburgh Hogmanay Festival.

Piping Live! 2009 was named “Best Large Event” in the 2010 Scottish Event Awards.
